Sensex, Nifty flat; Metal, Power stocks weigh

Indian benchmark indices continued to remain volatile during the morning deals amid mixed cues from global markets.

Foreign institutional investors remained net buyers in the capital market as they purchased shares worth Rs 110.85 crore on Thursday, according to provisional exchange data.



At 10:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 49748.75 up by 2.54 points or by 0.01 % and then NSE Nifty was at 14876.2 up by 2.4 points or by 0.02 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 49906.91 and intraday low of 49499.99 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 14918.45 and intraday low of 14806.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1607.85,+2.17%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2461.55,+2.15%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 626.80,+2.03%), State Bank of India (Rs. 360.85,+1.48%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 104.40,+0.82%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 4946.00,-1.68%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 103.60,-1.29%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 6890.00,-1.25%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2627.85,-0.86%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1421.75,-0.82%), among others.



Among the sectors, CDS index was at 33612.7 up by 520.02 points or by 1.57%. Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1607.85,+2.17%), Bajaj Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 1059.20,+1.91%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1023.05,+1.83%), Orient Electric Ltd. (Rs. 310.70,+1.64%), Amber Enterprises India Ltd. (Rs. 3322.80,+1.52%),.

Metal index was at 16191.11 down by -146.89 points or by -0.9%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 312.05,-2.13%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 902.90,-1.61%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 606.35,-1.29%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 94.55,-1.15%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 361.05,-1.12%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2786 , shares advanced were 1660 while 993 shares declined and 133 were unchanged.
