Indian Benchmark indices extended the early losses and trading near the day's low level. Nervousness in the global markets amid China's tech crackdown and ahead of the outcome of the US Federal Reserve's policy meeting nudged investors to book profits.
Meanwhile, all the sectoral indices are trading in the red, BSE midcap and smallcap indices down 1 percent each. The Nifty50, on the other hand, was below 15,600-mark and was at 15,590, down 150 points.
On the corporate front, Ramco Cements share price was down after the cement maker reported a 46.10 percent increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 171.67 crore for the quarter ended June, helped by growth in sales.
Indian rupee is trading flat 74.45 per dollar, amid selling seen in the domestic equity market. It opened marginally higher at 74.43 per dollar against previous close of 74.46.
At 11:32 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 52073.26 down by -505.5 points or by -0.96 % and then NSE Nifty was at 15596.95 down by -149.5 points or by -0.95 %.
In the volatile trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 52673.69 and intraday low of 51802.73 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 15767.5 and intraday low of 15513.45.
IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 986.30,+1.09%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 13915.70,+0.83%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2360.00,+0.74%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1739.20,+0.45%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 542.40,+0.36%), were among the gainers.
Whereas, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 4716.75,-2.63%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 714.70,-2.33%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 729.50,-2.13%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1410.35,-2.05%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1666.80,-1.83%), were among the losers on the BSE.
