Post-Session: Benchmarks end flat after range-bound session; Realty index jumps

Indian equity markets stayed range-bound on Tuesday, giving up most of their gains in the fag-end.



The market opened in the green on positive global cues as fears of an escalation in West Asia eased and volatility feel sharply. However, profit booking in the final hour erased most of the gains.



Grasim Industries, Bharti Airtel, Nestle India, Maruti Suzuki and HCL Technologies were among major Nifty gainers, while losers included Sun Pharma, BPCL, Reliance Industries, M&M and Hindalco Industries.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 73738.45 up by 89.83 points or by 0.12 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22368 up by 31.6 points or by 0.14 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74059.89 and intraday low of 73688.31 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22447.55 and intraday low of 22349.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1342.30,+3.38%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2502.75,+1.77%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12974.35,+1.53%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1486.60,+1.42%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 986.60,+1.34%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1483.75,-3.63%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2918.50,-1.42%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2070.00,-1.00%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1200.10,-0.63%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7248.05,-0.58%), among others.

Realty index was at 7517.14 up by 177.93 points or by 2.42%. Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1717.55,+6.02%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1289.00,+3.63%), Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1234.25,+3.28%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1470.00,+3.16%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 1001.00,+2.66%),.

Oil&Gas index was at 28326.32 down by -172.48 points or by -0.61%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 482.85,-1.87%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 592.95,-1.82%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 168.15,-1.58%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2918.50,-1.42%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 295.35,-0.81%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4192 , shares advanced were 2433 while 1601 shares declined and 158 were unchanged.
