Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty trade flat; PSU bank, pharma gain

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade flat during the noon trading session as rising Covid-19 cases have soured investment sentiments.



At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 49760.17 up by 13.96 points or by 0.03 % and then NSE Nifty was at 14868.45 down by -5.35 points or by -0.04 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 49906.91 and intraday low of 49499.99 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 14918.45 and intraday low of 14806.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 639.70,+4.13%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2468.55,+2.44%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 4765.00,+1.59%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1598.20,+1.55%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3688.50,+1.08%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 4930.00,-1.99%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 6852.90,-1.78%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 103.65,-1.24%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2622.20,-1.07%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1404.30,-1.04%), among others.



Among the sectors, HCS index was at 22662.24 up by 452.01 points or by 2.04%. Vimta Labs Ltd. (Rs. 204.10,+12.89%), Albert David Ltd. (Rs. 442.90,+10.45%), Marksans Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 56.10,+6.45%), Cadila Healthcare Ltd. (Rs. 498.55,+5.92%), Indraprastha Medical Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 59.45,+5.50%),.



Metal index was at 16152.01 down by -185.99 points or by -1.14%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 310.00,-2.78%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 901.80,-1.73%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 94.10,-1.62%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 605.00,-1.51%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 409.50,-1.50%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3073 , shares advanced were 1776 while 1121 shares declined and 176 were unchanged.
